Study of Toxicity and Treatability of Perfluoroalkyl Substances
Emerging contaminants

Valuation of the toxicity and biological treatability of poly/perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) on different types of biomass.

The objective is to define the state of the art of technologies for the removal of PFAS from water. The first step involves the evaluation of the PFAS toxicity on different mesophilic purification biomasses by means of breathometric tests with PFAS-rich wastes and the fine-tuning of the analytical methods. The second step focuses on the evaluation of the PFAS removal performance of biological purification systems.
